Lis Gerrard is a journalist and former high school teacher. She has extensive experience in both commercial and community radio.
She is also a writer, which has seen her win two international short story awards and several national awards.
Having retired from the workforce in 2006 and moved to Lake Macquarie, Lis retains her love for community radio. She is also involved in amateur dramatics and public speaking.
Over the past 30 years, Lis has travelled extensively, mostly within India, Asia and the Pacific. Living amongst the local people in their towns and villages, she has frequently interacted with the community by helping out in schools or participating in local radio.
Lis has three adult children and four delightful grandchildren whom she visits regularly and who, like Lis, regard the world as an extension of their backyard.
